Not ‘Paurashpur’ but ‘Tandav’ can be a reply to Game of Thrones

Ali Abbas Zafar who had impressed the audience with superhit action films like Tiger Zinda Hai, Sultan, and Bharat, the filmmaker is all set to do experiment with a new genre through his upcoming Amazon Original series titled Tandav. The official trailer of this political drama series was released yesterday and within less than 24 hours it has managed to get over 12 million views and currently trending at the number 1 spot on the YouTube trending chart in India.

The first look and trailer might remind you of Prakash Jha’s directorial film Raajneeti which was released in 2010, but it seems the scale of Zafar’s political drama is higher, as it’s 2021. The trailer has already become the talk of the town and gaining the attention of the audience. What is more impressive about this web series is the ensemble cast of talented actors. The expectation from this venture got higher as actors like Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, Tigmanshu Dhulia, Zeeshan Ayub, Sunil Grover, Kritika Kamra, Kumud Mishra, Sara Jane Dias, Dino Morea, Gauahar Khan, Sandhya Mridul, Anup Soni, Paresh Pahuja, Shonali Nagrani, Hiten Tejwani, Amyra Dastur, Neha Hinge, Sukhmani Sadana, and others will be essaying strong roles in this.

Recently Alt Balaji’s web series ‘Paurashpur’ made headlines and makers have promoted this as the Indian version of Hollywood’s hit period drama ‘Game Of Thrones’ but it got negative reviews from critics and viewers alike and failed to live up to the expectation. However, this Ali Abbas Zafar’s political drama can be a reply to the popular Hollywood series as in this series Indian politicians will be seen fighting to claim the throne of India’s most prestigious and powerful post that is the Prime Minister.

Written by Gaurav Solanki and jointly produced by Himanshu Kishan Mehra & Ali Abbas Zafar, this web series will release on 15th January on Amazon Prime Video. The trailer has created enough buzz and performances of actors like Saif Ali Khan, Dimple Kapadia, and Sunil Grover are getting praises even before the release of the series. Now it would be interesting to see, will this ‘Tandav’ be able to make the audience dance to its tunes?
